Fire engines are amazing pieces of equipment that allow firefighters to perform their jobs and get to fire scenes quickly. The important thing to know about a fire engine is that it carries water, hose and has a pump. All three components are essential to fighting fires.
A fire engine also known in some cities as a pumper, is a vehicle designed primarily for firefighting operations. In addition, many fire departments often employ their vehicles for various other uses including emergency medical services and rescue purposes.

A Battalion Chief commands a firefighting battalion, similar to a military battalion. A battalion consists of several fire stations and multiple fire companies.
