The Lockport Township Fire Protection District
is recruiting men and women to become Firefighters.


Applications for Firefighter are accepted approximately once every two years, during a set application period. We are currently testing for Firefighter Candidates.

Lockport Township Fire Protection District Application

Applicants for a position at the Lockport Township Fire Protection District must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and under thirty-five (35) years of age at the time of certification to an eligibility list for original appointment unless otherwise provided by state or federal law.

Applicants must possess the mental, physical and medical health to adequately perform the duties of a firefighter.

Applicants must have or be able to obtain a valid Illinois Driver’s License (Class B non-CDL) and have maintained a good driving record.

Applicants must be certified as a Firefighter II by the Office of the State Fire Marshall prior to the application deadline.

Applicants must be licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health as an Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic prior to the application deadline.

Applicants must successfully complete the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) from a licensed agency (local community college, private testing agency, etc.) within 12 months of the application deadline.

Qualified candidates will undergo an in depth background investigation and a thorough physical evaluation prior to a final interview by the Lockport Fire Commission.
