Foreign Fire Insurance Board

The purpose of the Foreign Fire Insurance Board is to receive and spend foreign fire insurance tax revenue that is paid by out-of-state insurance companies selling fire insurance in Illinois for the maintenance, use, and benefit of the fire department. 


The revenue received by the Foreign Fire Insurance board equals 2% of the fire portion of the insurance policy premium received from fire insurance upon property situated within the fire district. 


The board consists of seven members of the fire district: six trustees being elected by the sworn members from among themselves and the seventh trustee being the Fire Chief.
