Early Monday morning, March 6th at 2:05 a.m. the Lockport Township Fire Protection District responded to a reported house fire in the 200 block of E. 20th Ct in the City of Lockport. Fire companies arrived to find a working fire on the outside of a two-story, single-family home that had extended into the second-floor void spaces and attic as well as to the detached garage. Multiple hose lines were deployed for an offensive attack and companies aggressively worked for approximately an hour to bring the fire under control.
The occupants of the home were alerted to the fire by a neighbor and were able to safely evacuate prior to the fire department’s arrival. No injuries were reported. Due to the extensive smoke and fire damage, the home was left uninhabitable.
Mutual aid from Frankfort, Lemont, NW Homer, and Plainfield assisted at the scene of the fire while Bolingbrook, Channahon, East Joliet, Orland, and Romeoville cover the Lockport stations.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Lockport Fire Investigators.
